Placements24 in Bloemfontein is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to diagnose, repair and maintain a fleet of heavy trucks, buses and specialized vehicles in a well-equipped workshop.

You will perform diagnostics, service, and preventive maintenance, read manuals and use diagnostic software, adhere to safety standards, maintain service records, and collaborate with the workshop team for reliable transport operations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Truck Mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, and heavy vehicle systems.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment and software for heavy‑duty vehicles.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, preferably with a heavy vehicle endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy vehicle engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance, inspections, and preventative servicing to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Utilize specialized tools and equipment for heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Ensure all work performed complies with safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Maintain accurate service records and report on vehicle condition and required repairs.
