Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to manage fleet maintenance in Klerksdorp. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and related systems across a diverse truck fleet.

The role requires extensive knowledge of diesel technology, hands-on experience with diagnostic software, and the ability to work independently to keep vehicles safe and roadworthy.

Qualifications

• Certified Diesel Mechanic with a recognized qualification and proven experience.
• Extensive knowledge of diesel engine systems, components, and repair procedures.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools for heavy vehicles.
• Experience with hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical systems specific to commercial vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet fleet operational demands.
• A valid driver’s license, preferably with a heavy vehicle endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, suspension, and braking systems.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, tire rotation, and system checks.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment and specialized tools to identify mechanical issues and ensure accurate repairs.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records for all vehicles in the fleet.
• Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations and roadworthiness standards.
• Respond to roadside breakdowns or urgent repair requests to minimize vehicle downtime.
