Placements24 is assisting a prestigious Richards Bay law firm in hiring a Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney. The role focuses on managing complex commercial disputes, from inception to resolution, for corporate and high-net-worth clients.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional advocacy, strategic thinking, and leadership in a demanding environment. Based in Richards Bay, the successful attorney will mentor junior staff, oversee case workflows, and contribute to business development

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney with a minimum of 8 years in commercial litigation.
• Strong knowledge of SA commercial law, contract law and civil procedure.
• Excellent written and oral communication, advocacy, and client service.
• Ability to manage a heavy caseload and lead teams effectively.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of commercial litigation from pleadings to trial.
• Represent clients in contractual, shareholder, and corporate disputes.
• Conduct thorough legal research to shape case strategy.
• Negotiate settlements and appear in mediations/ADR proceedings.
• Advise clients on risks, strategy, and likely outcomes.
• Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and courts regularly.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff on litigation matters.
• Stay updated on case law, rules, and trends in litigation.
• Manage case budgets and allocate resources efficiently.
• Support business development in the litigation practice.
