Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide practical legal and commercial advice across an allocated portfolio in a multinational, hybrid-working environment in Sandton, Gauteng. You will manage matters end-to-end, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, and coordinate with risk, compliance and external counsel as required.

The role requires an LLB, SA Attorney admission (preferred) and 2+ PQE, with experience in technology, IT services or multinational settings advantageous.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of commercial and contract law.
• Strong drafting, analytical and negotiation skills.
• Ability to identify legal and contractual risks and provide solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and commercial advice to business stakeholders across matters.
• Act as primary legal contact for allocated matters from instruction to conclusion.
• Draft, review and negotiate client, supplier, service and data processing agreements.
• Advise on contractual rights, obligations, risks and mitigation measures.
• Escalate complex or material matters when needed.
• Support bids, proposals and transactions with legal input.
• Review tender docs and identify material risks.
• Work with cross-functional teams to progress transactions with governance in mind.
• Identify, assess and manage legal risk within the portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with legal policies and contracting standards.
• Collaborate with risk, compliance, privacy and regulatory teams.
• Contribute to policy templates and guidance.
• Manage disputes and contentious matters; advise on remedies and strategy.
• Coordinate external counsel where required; support litigation/arbitration.
• Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and provide practical advice.
