Job summary

Placements24 in Richards Bay is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Civil Engineer to support coastal and marine infrastructure projects. The role combines field investigations with office-based design and analysis for foundations, slope stability, and coastal structures.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree with a geotechnical focus, Pr Eng registration, and 7+ years of coastal/geotechnical experience, plus proficiency in PLAXIS or GeoStudio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical specialization.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng).
• Minimum 7 years of geotechnical experience, coastal or marine projects preferred.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute geotechnical investigations, including soil sampling, in-situ testing, and laboratory analysis.
• Provide foundation design recommendations for buildings, bridges, port structures, and other civil projects.
• Analyze slope stability, settlement, and soil-structure interaction for coastal/marine environments.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, and regulators to ensure designs meet requirements and environmental standards.
• Oversee on-site geotechnical aspects during construction, ensuring quality control and adherence to design.
