About the Role

Our client, a cutting-edge telecommunications innovator, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join their distributed team. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility to qualified candidates anywhere within South Africa . The role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing our client's cloud-based network infrastructure, ensuring its scalability, security, and high availability. You will be instrumental in architecting and deploying network solutions on major cloud platforms, leveraging your expertise in cloud networking and automation. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure and scalable network infrastructure within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Implement and manage virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, routing, firewalls, and load balancers in cloud platforms.
• Develop and automate network provisioning, configuration, and management processes using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Ensure robust network connectivity between on-premises data centers and cloud environments (hybrid cloud scenarios).
• Monitor cloud network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and low latency.
• Collaborate with software development and DevOps teams to support application deployments and infrastructure needs.
• Implement and manage network security best practices within the cloud, including intrusion detection/prevention systems and security groups.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud networking technologies and trends, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.
• Participate in on-call rotation for network incident response.
• Document network architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or equivalent experience are a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering, with a significant focus on cloud networking (at least 3 years with major cloud providers).
• Proven experience designing and deploying complex network architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong expertise in cloud networking concepts (VPCs, VNETs, Transit Gateways, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect).
• Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals, routing protocols, firewalls, and load balancing.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their networking implications is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, crucial for a remote role.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a distributed team.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate) are highly desirable.
