Placements24 is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer for our client, a rapidly expanding technology firm in the telecoms space. This fully remote role supports operations in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, and beyond.

You will design, implement, and manage scalable cloud networks, automate with Terraform/Ansible/CloudFormation, and collaborate across AWS, Azure, and GCP while ensuring security and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years network engineering with 3+ years cloud networking.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP networking services.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting.
• Strong TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, routing, switching knowledge.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes networking.
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage secure and scalable network infrastructure on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).


• Implement and maintain virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, routing, and security groups.


• Configure and manage cloud networking services, including load balancers, VPN gateways, and direct connections.


• Develop and implement network automation strategies using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.


• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize for latency and throughput.


• Implement and enforce cloud network security best practices, including firewall rules and access controls.


• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support application deployments and infrastructure needs.


• Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud network architecture and configurations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.


• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years focused on cloud networking.


• Proven experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their respective networking services.


• Proficiency in network automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Bash).


• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, routing, switching).


• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their network implications.


• Knowledge of network security principles and best practices in cloud environments.


• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.


• Strong communication skills, comfortable working effectively in a remote team environment.
