Job summary

Red Ember Recruitment is seeking an experienced Claims Manager for a Durbanville, South Africa role. The incumbent will oversee end-to-end claims operations, lead a team of claims professionals and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining high service delivery and managing financial risk.

The successful candidate will manage complex claims, guide investigations, set performance standards and develop strategies to control costs, with a focus on stakeholder satisfaction and process

Qualifications

• Matric certificate.
• NQF Level 4 or 5 in Short-Term Insurance.
• Minimum 8 years' claims handling experience in motor or non-motor claims.
• Strong technical understanding of policy interpretation, liability assessments and settlements.
• Proven experience managing teams, workloads and performance.
• Experience with SLAs, KPIs and turnaround times.
• Experience handling escalations and complex or high-value claims.
• Engagement with brokers, clients, loss adjusters and external providers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete claims lifecycle from notification to settlement.
• Lead, mentor and develop the claims team.
• Establish and monitor claims performance standards and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee investigations and validate coverage, liability and settlements.
• Provide training on claims handling techniques and legislative requirements.
• Conduct performance evaluations and set objectives for the team.
• Develop and implement strategies to control costs and ensure compliance.
• Analyse claims data, prepare reports and forecast volumes.
• Build relationships with brokers, clients, loss adjusters and service providers.
• Handle escalated complaints and disputes with a focus on client satisfaction.
