Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Claims Adjuster for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will investigate, evaluate, and negotiate complex property and casualty claims, ensuring compliance with policy terms and regulatory requirements.

You will mentor junior adjusters, collaborate with underwriting, and stay up to date with industry trends to improve processes in a flexible, remote-first environment that prioritizes service excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Claims Adjuster, preferably in property and casualty
• Strong understanding of insurance principles, claims handling procedures, and relevant legislation
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities
• Proficiency in claims management software and standard office applications
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting
• Commitment to ethical conduct and professional integrity
• Relevant tertiary qualification in insurance, law, or a related field is highly desirable
• Experience handling large loss claims is a significant advantage

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate complex insurance claims, ensuring compliance with policy terms and regulatory requirements
• Manage a diverse caseload, prioritizing effectively to meet SLAs and client expectations
• Conduct thorough investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and assessing damages
• Interpret policies, endorsements, and exclusions to determine coverage and liability
• Communicate effectively with policyholders, claimants, legal counsel, and other stakeholders
• Prepare detailed reports, settlement documents, and claim files for review and approval
• Identify potential subrogation or salvage opportunities
• Collaborate with underwriting and other departments to share insights and improve processes
• Mentor and guide less experienced adjusters
• Stay current with industry trends, legal developments, and best practices in claims management
