Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead major civil infrastructure projects in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will oversee planning, procurement, contract management, and stakeholder engagement to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.

You will lead diverse teams of engineers, contractors, and site personnel, ensuring safety, cost control, and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Master's degree or PMP certification is highly advantageous.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a senior management role on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated success in managing budgets exceeding R100 million.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with FIDIC or other standard forms of construction contracts.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines in a dynamic construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for planning, execution, and successful completion of major civil infrastructure projects (roads, ports, utilities, public facilities).
• Develop comprehensive project plans including scope, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
• Manage project teams including engineers, contractors, and site personnel.
• Oversee procurement processes, contractor selection, and contract administration.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental requirements.
• Manage client relationships, engage stakeholders, and provide regular progress reports.
• Control project costs and ensure financial objectives are met or exceeded.
• Conduct post-project reviews and identify lessons learned for Richards Bay projects.
