Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer - General Civil to be based in Bellville, Cape Town, South Africa, within the Enterprise Capabilities office. You will lead civil infrastructure design across earthworks, roads, stormwater, sewer, and water, coordinating client liaison, design reviews, and project documentation.

You will mentor junior staff, manage small to mid-sized teams, ensure delivery within budget and schedule, and contribute to QA/QC and bid support in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree; professional registration preferred.
• 12+ years post-qualification experience in civil engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA and/or CPEng/CMEngNZ is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and planning of civil infrastructure such as earthworks/grading, roads, stormwater, sewer and water for projects across various market sectors.
• Client liaison, reporting, design review, coordination, and resource management; oversight of deliverables.
• Mentor subordinate staff and coordinate/lead small to mid-sized teams on a project basis.
• Ensure execution aligns with AECOM Quality Management System requirements.
• Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort/hours for projects.
