Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for a pivotal role in Midrand, Gauteng. You will lead the design and execution of major infrastructure projects, mentoring junior staff and ensuring regulatory compliance from concept to completion.

In a collaborative consultancy, you will oversee roads, bridges and water/wastewater systems, conduct feasibility studies, review specs and contracts, and manage timelines and budgets while maintaining high standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA
• Minimum 8 years of progressive civil infrastructure design and project management experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil Designer and Bentley software
• Strong knowledge of South African building codes, regulations and environmental laws
• Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Experience in a consultancy environment is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of civil projects (roads, bridges, water and wastewater, storm drainage)
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies and detailed analyses
• Prepare and review technical specifications, tender documents and contracts
• Manage project timelines, budgets and resources for on-time delivery
• Collaborate with clients, government agencies and stakeholders
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and environmental laws
• Perform site supervision and quality control during construction
• Utilize advanced civil engineering software for design, modeling and analysis
