Placements24, on behalf of a reputable engineering consultancy in Stellenbosch, seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead major infrastructure projects, including roads, water and sanitation networks. The role combines on-site leadership with remote design work, reporting to senior management and coordinating with clients, authorities, and contractors.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree, Pr. Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional registration as a Pr. Eng. with ECSA or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive civil engineering design and project management experience.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects (roads, water, wastewater).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; hybrid work capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and planning of civil engineering infrastructure projects, ensuring codes and standards compliance.
• Manage timelines, budgets and resources for on-site and remote activities.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies and impact assessments.
• Prepare detailed designs, drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, contractors and stakeholders to meet objectives.
• Oversee construction supervision and quality control to ensure work meets specifications.
• Perform structural analysis and calculations using relevant software.
• Review and approve engineering designs and technical reports.
• Contribute to development of proposals and tenders for new projects.
