Job summary

As Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead and coordinate civil engineering design activities across infrastructure and site development projects. The role combines hands-on technical engineering with design leadership, multidisciplinary coordination, mentoring and involvement in project and commercial delivery.

You will also have opportunities to contribute to proposals and business development initiatives while developing towards broader technical and project leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA.
• Approximately eight years or more of relevant consulting design experience.
• Experience with civil infrastructure and site development design.
• Experience with bulk earthworks and civil services infrastructure.
• Experience in water, wastewater, sewer, stormwater and drainage systems.
• Strong technical judgement and problem solving.
• Good understanding of civil design codes and standards.
• Experience in BIM-enabled design environments.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary and distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design packages from concept through detailed design and delivery.
• Design and coordinate infrastructure including bulk earthworks, water, wastewater, sewer, stormwater and drainage systems.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Approximately eight years or more of relevant consulting engineering design experience, or an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and demonstrated technical competence.
• Demonstrated civil infrastructure and site development design experience.
• Experience with bulk earthworks and civil services infrastructure.
• Experience in water, wastewater, sewer, stormwater and drainage systems.
• Strong technical judgement and the ability to resolve complex engineering problems.
• Good understanding of relevant civil engineering design codes and standards.
• Experience working within BIM-enabled design environments.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of engineering project delivery requirements.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and geographically distributed project teams.

Preferred / Advantageous Experience

Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

• Bulk water infrastructure.
• Water treatment works.
• Wastewater treatment works.
• Flood risk assessments.
• Hydrology.
• Dam-related infrastructure.
