Job summary

Assegai in South Africa is seeking a civil engineer with strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills to deliver detailed design and drafting for roads, bulk earthworks, and drainage networks. You will ensure compliance with design codes and internal QA procedures while taking technical ownership of project work and coordinating with client and multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires approximately 5+ years of relevant design experience, a BSc/BTech in Civil Engineering, and progression towards ECSA

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant civil engineering design experience.
• Experience in detailed design of roads, bulk earthworks, stormwater, water, and sewer networks.
• Strong working knowledge of civil design codes and construction specifications.
• Progress towards ECSA registration as PrEng or PrTechEng.

Job description

Role Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, from detailed design and drafting through to client liaison and project/site meetings.

This position requires strong practical design capability, particularly using AutoCAD Civil 3D, together with a sound understanding of applicable civil engineering design codes and construction specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed civil engineering design and drafting.
• Prepare designs for roads, bulk earthworks and piped infrastructure networks.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant technical standards, design codes and internal quality-management procedures.
• Take responsibility for the technical aspects of allocated project work.
• Participate in client liaison and project coordination.
• Attend project and site meetings as required.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and multi-office project teams.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Approximately 5 years or more relevant civil engineering design experience.
• Demonstrated experience in the detailed design of: Roads Bulk earthworks Stormwater infrastructure Water networks Sewer networks.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with current civil engineering design codes and construction series specifications.
• Must be progressing towards professional registration with ECSA as a PrEng or PrTech Eng.
• Valid drivers licence and own vehicle.
• Working knowledge of the Infrastructure Design Automation Suite (iDAS) - advantageous.
