Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Civil Design Engineer in Polokwane, Limpopo to lead civil infrastructure design across roads, earthworks, and drainage. You will deliver detailed drawings, calculations, and tender docs while ensuring compliance with SANS and municipal standards.

With 7+ years of experience and Pr.Eng registration, you will guide junior engineers, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and liaise with clients and authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 7+ years of experience in civil design engineering with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA is required.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other relevant design software.
• Solid understanding of geometric road design, drainage design principles, and earthworks calculations.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments and their integration into civil designs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and readiness to travel within the Limpopo province.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil design process for infrastructure projects, including site development, roads, and stormwater management.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies for new projects.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and municipal requirements.
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines (structural, electrical, mechanical).
• Manage project timelines and contribute to budget control for design aspects.
• Review designs prepared by junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities to address design queries and ensure progress.
• Undertake site visits during construction to provide design support and resolve issues.
• Stay updated on best practices and new technologies in civil engineering design.
