Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead design process for civil infrastructure projects (site development, drainage, utilities).
• Produce detailed drawings, calculations and specifications.
• Review designs by juniors and external consultants for quality and compliance.
• Ensure designs meet South African standards and local authority requirements.
• Collaborate with PMs, contractors and clients to maintain design intent.
• Conduct site visits to verify conditions and support construction.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their team in Mahikeng . This role is responsible for leading the design and development of civil engineering projects, ensuring that all technical aspects meet stringent quality and regulatory standards. You will play a key part in conceptualizing designs, preparing detailed drawings, and overseeing the technical aspects of project execution. This hybrid position offers the best of both worlds, allowing for focused work at home and collaborative engagement in the office, contributing to essential infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design process for civil infrastructure projects, including site development, drainage, and utilities.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Perform technical reviews of designs completed by junior engineers and external consultants.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant South African national standards and local authority requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure design intent is maintained.
• Conduct site visits as required to verify conditions and support construction activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant civil design software.
• In-depth knowledge of site development, stormwater management, and road design principles.
