Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer for a production facility in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on overseeing design, operation, and maintenance of air separation units and related gas processes.

The ideal candidate has strong thermodynamics expertise, extensive experience in cryogenic processes, and proven troubleshooting abilities to improve safety, efficiency, and product quality. This position is based on-site in Pietermaritzburg with a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering with 7+ years in industrial gas or cryogenic processes
• Deep knowledge of air separation technologies and cryogenic distillation
• Experience with process simulation software and control systems

Responsabilités

• Manage and optimize the performance of industrial gas production plants, including cryogenic air separation units
• Conduct process simulations and troubleshooting to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality
• Perform detailed engineering calculations, including mass and energy balances, P&IDs, and equipment specifications
• Ensure adherence to stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout operations
• Lead root cause analysis for process upsets and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure plant reliability and minimize downtime
• Evaluate new technologies and process upgrades to enhance plant performance and reduce costs
• Prepare technical reports, operational guidelines, and training materials
• Participate in process safety reviews and risk assessments
