Placements24 in Mahikeng is seeking a senior Bioprocess Engineer to lead development, optimization, and scale-up of microbial fermentation processes for biochemicals and therapeutics. You will collaborate with R&D and manufacturing to ensure robust biomanufacturing operations.

The role requires an MSc/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related field, 5+ years in industrial bioprocess development, and hands-on bioreactor operation, process control, and downstream processing

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial bioprocess development experience focusing on microbial fermentation.
• Strong knowledge of microbial physiology, metabolic engineering, and fermentation kinetics.
• Hands-on bioreactor operation, process control, and downstream processing.
• Familiarity with GMP regulations and quality assurance in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and scale-up microbial fermentation processes for industrial applications.
• Monitor and control fermentation parameters (e.g., temperature, pH, DO) to ensure optimal growth and product yield.
• Develop and implement downstream processing strategies for product recovery and purification.
• Conduct process validation studies and ensure GMP compliance.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency.
• Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing to transfer and implement new bioprocesses.
