Placements24 is seeking a Senior Biomedical Data Analyst for a cutting-edge biomedical research institute in Soweto, Gauteng. You will analyze complex biomedical datasets, apply statistics and ML, and translate findings for scientists and clinicians.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field, 5+ years of biomedical data experience, proficiency in R, SAS, SPSS, Python, SQL, and data-visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, CS).
• Minimum 5 years of biomedical data analysis experience.
• Proficiency with statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS) and Python; SQL for data querying.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and Python visualization libraries.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large and complex biomedical datasets (genomics, clinical, imaging).
• Apply advanced statistics and machine learning to identify patterns and correlations.
• Develop and implement data visualization strategies to communicate findings to scientists.
• Collaborate with researchers to define analysis requirements and experimental designs.
• Clean, preprocess, and manage diverse biological/clinical datasets, ensuring data integrity.
• Create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata standards, and documentation.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to generate hypotheses and insights.
• Contribute to development of predictive models for disease risk and progression.
• Stay current with bioinformatics and biomedical data science advances.
• Present methods and findings at internal meetings and external conferences.
