Job summary

Lesaka Merchant seeks a Senior Specialist: Business Intelligence to design and deliver production-quality dashboards and analytics solutions. You will drive BI standards, enable data-driven decisions, and ensure reliable insights across lending, payments, customer, and operations domains.

This role involves governance, asset lifecycle, and collaboration with analytics engineers to surface data model requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quantitative or analytical discipline; postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• 6+ years of BI development experience in a production environment.
• Experience in financial services, fintech, or a similarly regulated industry.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one enterprise BI platform (Power BI strongly preferred).
• Strong SQL skills and ability to work directly with data warehouse tables and views.
• Track record of independently building and maintaining complex, multi-page reports and dashboards.
• Ability to translate business requirements into well-designed BI solutions and push back when underspecified.
• Understanding of data modelling concepts to support analytics engineering outputs.

Responsibilities

• Design and build dashboards, operational reports, and self-service analytics for stakeholders across lending, payments, customer, and operations domains.
• Translate requirements into technically sound BI solutions and challenge requirements where needed.
• Develop and maintain complex calculated measures, KPIs, and business logic within the BI layer.
• Optimise dashboard performance and manage data volumes as complexity grows.
• Contribute to BI governance, standards, and asset lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with analytics engineers to surface data model requirements and address data quality issues.
