Job summary

Amaris Consulting in Cape Town seeks an experienced DevOps Engineer to design, implement and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS for banking and finance projects. You will manage Linux systems, build CI/CD pipelines, and containerize applications with Docker and Kubernetes.

You will automate provisioning with IaC tools, tune web servers, and collaborate with networking teams for robust, scalable environments. The role requires 5+ years in DevOps and AWS certification.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in DevOps, banking/finance or similar industries.
• Strong Linux expertise and cloud infra experience.
• AWS Associate Certification is required.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD pipelines: Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Proficient in Bash, Python, PHP, Perl, Java, or Go.
• Infrastructure as Code: SaltStack, Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform.
• Web servers: Apache, Nginx, FPM, Node.
• Load balancers knowledge and admin experience.
• AWS RDS (MariaDB/MySQL) and NoSQL like Redis, MongoDB.
• Replication, messaging (RabbitMQ), networking (OSI, TGW).
• Certification in Bachelor's, RHCE, ISO 27001, PCI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infra for banking projects.
• Manage Linux-based operating systems for high availability and security.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Deploy and orchestrate containers with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Automate provisioning with SaltStack, Chef, Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
• Configure and manage web servers (Apache, Nginx, FPM, Node).
• Set up and manage load balancers for reliability and scalability.
• Administer AWS RDS (MariaDB, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (Redis, MongoDB).
• Implement replication and messaging (RabbitMQ, MQ).
• Collaborate with networking teams for robust connectivity (AWS TGW, on-prem).
