Job summary

Idbasesoftware in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a leading banking environment. The role centers on building secure, scalable cloud platforms with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.

You will work closely with developers, architects, and security teams to deliver reliable services, using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, and IaC tooling, while improving deployment templates and incident response practices.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable and repeatable software deployments.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code.
• Develop deployment, release, and environment management solutions.

Key Responsibilities

DevOps & Automation

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable and repeatable software deployments

Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code

Requirements & Qualifications

Must‑Have Experience

7+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or a similar engineering role

Strong hands‑on experience with AWS

Strong experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines

Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly AWS CDK

Experience automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration

Strong understanding of networking fundamentals

Experience with monitoring and observability across cloud or hybrid environments

Experience working with Linux and Windows Server

Understanding of the AWS Well‑Architected Framework

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills

AWS: EC2, RDS, EBS, EKS, ECS, Load Balancing, Secrets Manager, KMS, Service Catalog

Infrastructure as Code: AWS CDK, CloudFormation

Monitoring & Observability: AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, AppDynamics, ELK

Scripting: Python and/or Bash

Other: Ansible, Zabbix, WebLogic 14c

Advantageous Experience

Experience applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles in production

Experience in banking or financial services environments

Experience working within PCI‑DSS or other regulated environments

Experience with low‑latency Java applications Experience with infrastructure performance troubleshooting

Knowledge of security, audit, change control, and compliance requirements
