Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to lead system architecture, manage requirements, and integrate subsystems in a fully remote role serving clients globally, including Sandton. The position focuses on powertrain, ADAS, infotainment, and vehicle dynamics with an emphasis on safety and performance.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s or PhD in engineering, 10+ years of automotive systems experience, and strong knowledge of AUTOSAR and ISO 26262.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years in automotive systems engineering focused on design and integration.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and AUTOSAR standards.
• ISO 26262 functional safety experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage system architecture for new automotive platforms and features.
• Develop and document detailed system requirements, specifications, and test plans.
• Lead the integration of various vehicle subsystems (powertrain, ADAS, infotainment) ensuring functional compatibility.
• Perform system-level analysis, simulation, and validation to ensure performance and safety targets are met.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams (software, hardware, mechanical) in a remote environment.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on system design and integration challenges.
