Placements24 is seeking a Senior Automation & Control Systems Engineer to join our Port Elizabeth team. You will design, implement, and optimize PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems across diverse industrial projects, working with Siemens, Rockwell, and Schneider platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 7+ years' hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency in programming and configuring major PLC brands (Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix).
• Experience with SCADA/HMI software packages (WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Intouch).
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols and communication methods.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial automation projects.
• Program and configure automation hardware and software platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider).
• Develop functional design specifications and ensure adherence to project requirements.
• Lead commissioning activities, including system testing, troubleshooting, and tuning of control loops.

About the Role

This role is central to the design, implementation, and optimization of sophisticated automation and control systems for a variety of industrial applications. • Proficiency in programming and configuring major PLC brands (e.g., Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix).
• Experience with SCADA/HMI software packages (e.g., WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Intouch).
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols and communication methods.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Experience in project management and leading technical teams is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508) is a plus.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa and reside in or near Port Elizabeth.
