Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a strong background in industrial automation to join our Port Elizabeth team. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining automated electrical systems to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce downtime.

You will work closely with production teams on control systems, PLC programming, and HMI development, contributing to a culture of innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced plant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation and electrical control systems.
• Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting major PLC platforms (Siemens S7, Rockwell RSLogix).
• Experience with SCADA systems and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) development.
• Knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations relevant to industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLCs and HMIs for automated production lines.
• Develop electrical schematics and control panel layouts for new machinery and system upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems and equipment to minimize production downtime.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and technicians to integrate automated solutions into manufacturing processes.
• Implement safety standards and procedures for all electrical installations and modifications.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical and automation equipment to ensure reliability.
