Job summary

The Recruitment Pig invites a senior plant operations leader in Gauteng to oversee asphalt manufacturing for high-profile road projects, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery with strong operational support.

You will direct daily plant productivity, supervise batching and burner operations, manage materials inventory, enforce mix temperatures and binder ratios, and drive continuous maintenance and compliance with environmental and site standards.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years of hands-on experience running batch and continuous drum asphalt plants.
• Solid understanding of heavy asphalt plant machinery, bitumen heating systems, and PLC plant controls.
• Practical knowledge of standard asphalt mixes, modified binders, and aggregate gradings.
• Proven mechanical fault-finding skills to minimize downtime during active paving operations.
• Good understanding of environmental emissions, safety compliance, and raw material stock control.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily asphalt manufacturing, aggregate drying, burner operations, and mix batching sequences.
• Plan and schedule production volumes to align with road paving schedules and client orders.
• Control raw material inventory, including stone aggregates, liquid bitumen binders, and specialty additives.
• Enforce strict asphalt mix temperatures, binder ratios, and grading curves for every load.
• Oversee planned preventative maintenance programs for plant bins, conveyors, screens, and pugmills.
• Monitor burner fuel usage and production costs to minimize waste while maintaining quality.
• Maintain full compliance with municipal air quality licenses, dust suppression rules, and site safety standards.
