Qualifications

• Master of Science or Doctorate in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
• Minimum of 5 years in pharmaceutical analytical development and testing.
• Proficiency with analytical instrumentation, especially HPLC/UPLC.
• Solid understanding of GMP, ICH guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for drugs and related materials.
• Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing using HPLC/UPLC, GC, UV-Vis, dissolution, and Karl Fischer titration.
• Analyze data, troubleshoot instruments, and investigate out-of-specification results.
• Author validation protocols, SOPs, and stability study protocols.
• Collaborate with QC/QA and development teams to support product lifecycle and ensure GMP compliance.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Senior Analytical Scientist to enhance their pharmaceutical analysis capabilities in Soweto . This role is vital for developing, validating, and implementing robust analytical methods to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of pharmaceutical products. You will be responsible for characterizing drug substances and products, investigating deviations, and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in analytical chemistry, extensive experience with modern analytical instrumentation, and a commitment to scientific excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for the testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products.
• Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing using techniques such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis spectroscopy, dissolution testing, and Karl Fischer titration.
• Analyze and interpret complex analytical data, troubleshoot instrumentation issues, and investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results.
• Author method validation protocols and reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and stability study protocols.
• Collaborate with quality control, quality assurance, and formulation development teams to support product lifecycle management.
• Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant regulatory guidelines in Soweto .

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical analytical development and testing.
• Proficiency with common analytical instrumentation, particularly HPLC/UPLC systems.
• Strong understanding of GMP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical analysis.
