Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Analytical Development Scientist in East London, Eastern Cape, SA to lead method development and validation for pharmaceutical products. You will perform hands-on laboratory work and ensure cGMP compliance across projects from early development to commercial support.

The role requires a strong background in analytical chemistry, extensive experience with HPLC/UPLC, GC and spectroscopy, and collaboration with QA, QC and R&D teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical method development and validation within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Knowledge of cGMP regulations and ICH guidelines related to analytical testing and validation.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
• Perform routine testing using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR and dissolution methods.
• Characterize drug substances and products, including impurity profiling and stability testing.
• Troubleshoot analytical methods and instrumentation issues.
• Prepare development reports, validation protocols and validation reports.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with cGMP and guidelines; support regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with Quality Control, QA and R&D teams.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic pharmaceutical company, is actively seeking a talented Senior Analytical Development Scientist to join their expanding team in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA . This role is crucial for developing, validating, and implementing analytical methods essential for the characterization and quality control of pharmaceutical products. You will work on a variety of projects, from early-stage development to commercial support, ensuring that all analytical activities meet stringent regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in analytical chemistry, with extensive experience in method development and validation using various techniques such as HPLC, GC, and spectroscopy. This position requires hands‑on laboratory work and collaboration with formulation, process development, and quality control teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished pharmaceutical products.

Requirements
