Placements24 is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to join our pharmaceutical development team in Durban. You will develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for drug substances and products, ensuring quality, safety, and efficacy.

You will lead method development using HPLC, GC-MS, MS, and spectroscopy, interpret data, and contribute to regulatory submissions while upholding GMP standards in a collaborative, fast-paced environment in Durban.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in analytical/ pharmaceutical chemistry.
• Minimum 5 years in pharmaceutical analysis and method development.
• Proficient with HPLC, GC-MS, and regulatory GMP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for drug substances and products.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Chemist to enhance their pharmaceutical development team in Durban . This role is central to ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of new drug formulations through rigorous analytical testing. You will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing analytical methods for drug substances and products. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for pharmaceutical compounds using techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve analytical issues, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Conduct stability studies and analyze data to determine shelf-life and storage conditions for pharmaceutical products.
• Prepare comprehensive analytical reports and documentation for regulatory submissions.
• Stay updated on regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH) and analytical chemistry best practices.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical analysis and method development.
• Proficiency with various analytical instruments and techniques, particularly HPLC and GC-MS .
• Strong understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a pharmaceutical setting .
