Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aircraft Structures Engineer to join our Randburg, Gauteng team. The role focuses on the design, analysis, and testing of aircraft structures, ensuring safety, reliability, and certification readiness.

You will lead FEA-driven assessments and collaborate across engineering disciplines to deliver robust structural solutions. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in aerospace-related field with 8+ years in aircraft structural analysis.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant engineering field with aerospace focus.
• 8+ years of aircraft structural analysis and design experience.
• Proficiency with FEA software (ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus).
• Knowledge of aerospace materials and failure mechanisms.
• Experience with composites is desirable.
• Authorized to work in South Africa; hybrid Randburg arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed stress analysis on aircraft primary and secondary structures using FEA tools.
• Conduct fatigue, fracture mechanics, and damage tolerance analyses.
• Develop structural design concepts and ensure airworthiness compliance.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and other engineers throughout the lifecycle.
• Create and validate structural models and simulations for static, dynamic, and thermal loads.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for design reviews and regulatory submissions.
• Support qualification and certification of structural designs with authorities.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.
• Investigate structural issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay updated on materials, manufacturing advances, and analysis methods.
• Contribute to company standards and best practices.
