Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Air Traffic Controller to manage operations at a busy regional airport in Stellenbosch. You will lead a team of controllers, ensure safe, orderly, and expeditious air traffic flow, and uphold high performance standards.

You will implement operational procedures, monitor weather and hazards, coordinate with pilots and ground teams, and ensure compliance with national and international aviation regulations. Strong leadership under pressure is essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Air Traffic Controller License with appropriate ratings and endorsements.
• Significant experience as an Air Traffic Controller, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
• In-depth knowledge of air traffic control procedures, navigation systems, and aviation regulations.
• Exceptional communication skills, situational awareness, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of professionals.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a team of air traffic controllers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
• Manage the safe and efficient flow of aircraft within the assigned airspace, adhering strictly to established procedures and protocols.
• Coordinate with pilots, ground operations, and other relevant agencies to ensure seamless air traffic management.
• Monitor weather conditions and potential hazards, adjusting traffic flow as necessary to maintain safety.
• Implement and enforce all air traffic control regulations, policies, and safety standards.
• Participate in incident investigations and contribute to the development of preventive measures to enhance safety.
