Placements24 is seeking an experienced Aerospace Propulsion Engineer in Benoni, Gauteng, ZA to lead design, analysis and testing of propulsion systems for aircraft applications. You will perform thermodynamic and fluid-dynamic modeling, run CFD/FEA simulations, and drive design improvements through rigorous data analysis.

The role requires a Master's degree and at least 7 years in propulsion, with strong knowledge of thermodynamics, combustion and turbomachinery.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field with a specialization in Propulsion.
• 7+ years of experience in aerospace propulsion system design, analysis, or testing.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion and turbomachinery.
• Proficiency in using CFD and FEA software.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and performance testing of engines or components.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test propulsion systems including jet and rocket engines and components.
• Perform detailed performance analysis, thermodynamic modeling and fluid dynamics simulations.
• Conduct rigorous testing of propulsion components and analyze data to implement design improvements.
• Collaborate with structures, avionics and manufacturing to ensure system integration.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, design specs and performance analyses.
• Troubleshoot and resolve propulsion-related engineering problems.
• Stay abreast of emerging propulsion technologies and contribute to R&D initiatives.
• Ensure designs comply with aerospace standards and safety regulations.
• Assist in selection and procurement of materials and components for propulsion systems.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and field service teams.
