Job summary

Placements24 client in the aerospace manufacturing sector seeks an experienced Aerospace Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and test mechanical systems for next‑gen aircraft and spacecraft in Tembisa, Gauteng.

You will work with CAD/FEA tools, select materials, and validate components through rigorous testing, while collaborating across systems, avionics, and manufacturing teams to meet safety and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant aerospace mechanical design experience.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in CAD and structural analysis tools.
• Experience with dynamic analysis, vibration testing, and fatigue life prediction.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate mechanical systems, components, and structures for aerospace applications.
• Conduct advanced stress, thermal, and vibration analyses using FEA and other simulation tools.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including CAD models, drawings, specifications, and test reports.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including systems, avionics, and manufacturing engineers.
• Oversee prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing of mechanical components and systems.
• Ensure designs comply with stringent aerospace industry standards (e.g., FAA, EASA) and customer requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues encountered during design, manufacturing, or testing phases.
• Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes relevant to aerospace applications.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
