Job summary

University of Fort Hare is seeking an experienced accounting professional to manage the full accounting function for a trading business unit. The role covers month-end reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, VAT and financial analysis.

The ideal candidate has a BCom or equivalent, 5+ years of accounting experience, and strong Excel skills. You should be detail-oriented, analytical, with good organisational abilities and the capacity to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting, Finance or equivalent required.
• 5+ years’ bookkeeping/accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Experience with reconciliations, journals and month-end processes.
• Experience with VAT and statutory compliance.
• Strong gross profit, stock and financial analysis experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and manage confidential information.
