Job summary

Placements24 in Pietermaritzburg is seeking a Senior 5G Network Deployment Specialist to lead the rollout of 5G infrastructure across KwaZulu-Natal. You will deploy base stations, core network components, and related systems, working alongside planning, engineering and field operations to meet timelines and technical specs.

The role requires deep expertise in 5G NR, SA/NSA architectures, RF planning, and hands-on site management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in wireless network deployment with strong focus on 4G/LTE and 5G technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of 5G NR, SA/NSA architectures, RAN and core network elements (AMF, SMF, UPF).

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end deployment of 5G network elements, including base stations, core network functions, and related infrastructure.
• Perform site surveys, installation supervision, and commissioning of new network sites.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during the deployment phase.
• Ensure compliance with network design specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with vendor engineers and internal teams to integrate new equipment and software.
• Develop and execute test plans for network functionality and performance validation.
• Provide technical support and guidance to field technicians and support staff.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of deployment processes and methodologies.
