Job summary

Supreme Processing in Germiston, South Africa, is seeking a Section Supervisor for the Production department to oversee the preparation, main line, or packaging areas, coordinating workflow and staff to meet production targets while upholding food safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a Matric, supervisory training, 1–2 years in food processing, and strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, with a focus on safety and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric) is required.
• Relevant supervisory or leadership training is required.
• 1–2 years’ experience in a food processing environment is required.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices.
• Basic food handling and safety certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production activities within the assigned preparation, main line, or packaging section.
• Coordinate workflow, allocate staff, monitor line performance and address bottlenecks.
• Ensure machinery is set up, operated, checked and shut down per SOPs.
• Monitor weights, yields, waste and material usage; record and report deviations.
• Handle ingredients, packaging materials and finished goods according to procedures.
• Complete production, quality, downtime, waste, scaling, traceability and dispatch records.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, allergen control and PPE requirements.
• Enforce clean-as-you-go practices and maintain sanitary work areas.
• Investigate non-conformances and communicate corrective actions to Shift Manager and QA.
