About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the hospitality industry, is seeking a highly organized and experienced Sanitation Manager to oversee hygiene standards across their operations in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal . This pivotal role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive sanitation programs to ensure compliance with health regulations and maintain exceptional guest experiences. You will lead a dedicated team of housekeeping and sanitation staff, manage budgets, and collaborate with various departments, including Food & Beverage and Operations. Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive sanitation policies and procedures across all hotel departments. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, and back-of-house facilities to ensure adherence to hygiene standards. Train staff on proper cleaning techniques, chemical usage, waste management, and health and safety protocols. Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adequate stock levels. Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and national health and safety regulations. Investigate and resolve any sanitation-related issues or guest complaints promptly. Collaborate with department heads to integrate sanitation practices into all operational workflows. Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, inspections, staff training, and inventory. Stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements in sanitation and hygiene management.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Sanitation Manager, Housekeeping Manager, or similar role in the hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and sanitation best practices, including HACCP principles if applicable. Excellent leadership, training, and team management skills. Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities. Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to the hospitality sector. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff and guests. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with hotel management software is a plus. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required by the business. A degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field is advantageous. Must be based in or willing to relocate to Durban , KwaZulu-Natal .
