Job summary

University of Fort Hare invites applications for an Au Pair role based in Sandhurst, Sandton. The position runs Monday to Friday, 10:00–19:00, with a 1 hour lunch break, starting ASAP on a permanent contract.

You will assist with school drop-offs, homework, light housekeeping, and family errands, with occasional babysitting on weekends by arrangement. Salary is R16,500 gross per month plus SARS driving allowance of R4.95 per km for family-related trips.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience within the last 2 years.
• Must have own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
• Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
• Must have a clear criminal record.
• Must have a passion for children.
• Must have Matric and a South African ID document.

Responsibilities

• Occasionally take children to school in the mornings and collect from school.
• Assist with homework and supervise educational activities.
• Run general family errands and grocery shopping for the family.
• Engage in intellectually stimulating play and activities with children.
• Prepare meals for the children, bathe them, and provide weekend babysitting by prior arrangement.

Duties

Occasionally take to school in the mornings, collect from school, take to extra-murals, assist with and supervise homework, run general family errands, grocery shopping on your behalf, engaging in intellectually stimulating play & activities with child, bathing, prepare meals for your children, occasional Babysitting and weekend work (by prior arrangement)

Note

If you are required to work any overtime. This will be paid out in the form of time off. Prior notice for over time and extra hours needing to be worked will be given with as much notice as possible.

Requirements

Someone who is willing to commit long term. Someone level headed, mature, takes initiative, is engaging and energetic. Is happy to learn how to do things the families way. Has experience with the age groups and able to assist with homework.
