Job summary

DH Flexibles seeks an energetic sales professional to win new flexible packaging accounts and nurture existing customers in the Western Cape. You’ll travel to food producers and brand owners, supported by our factory and sales team to quote, sample and deliver value.

Requirements include 3+ years B2B sales in packaging, own transport, and strong English communication. Afrikaans is a plus in our multilingual market environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of proven B2B sales in flexible packaging or related industry.
• Own reliable transport and a valid driver’s licence.
• Track record of opening new accounts, not only managing existing ones.
• Clear English communication; Afrikaans is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Win new flexible packaging accounts across the Western Cape and beyond.
• Build and manage your pipeline from first call to first order.
• Understand prospect needs and recommend formats and film structures.
• Serve as main contact for existing customers and grow orders.
• Visit customers, anticipate reorders and spot new SKUs or upgrades.

Introduction

DH Flexibles has manufactured flexible packaging in Cape Town for25 years, since 2001 (formerly MH Packaging). Our team of 60 makes stand-up pouches, 3-side-seal flat pouches, side gusset and BOPP bags, and custom printed laminates for food and FMCG brands: biltong, coffee, rusks, nuts, dried fruit, confectionery and more.

You'll do two jobs. You'll win new accounts, which earn you commission, and you'll look after a book of existing customers so they keep ordering and grow with us. You'll be on the road visiting food producers and brand owners, backed by an experienced factory and internal sales team.

Duties & Responsibilities

New business

• Find, approach and win new flexible packaging accounts across the Western Cape and beyond.
• Build and manage your own pipeline, from first call through samples, quotes and trials to the first order.
• Understand each prospect's product, filling line and shelf-life needs, and recommend the right format and film structure.

Existing customers

• Be the main contact for an allocated set of existing customers.
• Visit regularly, anticipate reorders, and spot opportunities for new SKUs, sizes or print upgrades.
• Resolve queries with production, artwork and quality, and keep customers informed on lead times and delivery.

General

• Prepare quotations with the internal team and follow them up promptly.
• Keep accurate records of visits, quotes and pipeline, and report weekly.
• Represent DH Flexibles at trade shows and industry events.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Excellent knowledge of flexible packaging, especially bags and pouches: stand-up and flat pouches, gusset bags, laminates, BOPP and barrier films, zippers, vacuum and gas flush.
• At least 3 years of proven B2B sales in flexible packaging or a closely related industry (labels, film, FMCG packaging).
• A track record of opening new accounts, not only managing existing ones.
• Own reliable transportand a valid driver's licence.
• Matric; a packaging or sales qualification is an advantage.
• An existing network among Western Cape food producers is a strong advantage.
• Self-driven, organised, and comfortable with Excel, email and a CRM.
• Clear communication in English; Afrikaans is an advantage.

Package & Remuneration

• R25,000 to R35,000 basic per month (cost to company), depending on experience. This includes your car/travel allowance and a company cellphone or cellphone allowance.
• On top of that,uncapped commission on turnoverfrom new accounts you bring in.
• A permanent, long-term position with a company that has been in the industry for 25 years.
