Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim South Africa seeks a Ruminant Technical Manager to drive sustainable growth of the ruminant portfolio in Southern Africa. You will serve as the technical partner to veterinarians, feedlots, dairy and beef producers, and distributors while supporting launches and market development initiatives.

You will lead technical readiness, training, field trials, and evidence generation, ensuring scientifically accurate communications and practical customer solutions.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (BVSc)
• Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)
• 5–8 years' experience in cattle health, animal health, or veterinary industries in SA
• Strong understanding of beef and dairy systems and disease challenges
• Ability to translate scientific evidence into practical customer solutions
• Experience in technical training, presentations, field trials, product launches, or sales support
• Deep knowledge of cattle health, herd management, parasitology, vaccinology, and preventive medicine

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical expert for the ruminant portfolio in South Africa, providing veterinary leadership to customers and internal teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with veterinarians, feedlots, dairy and beef producers, distributor networks, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to strategic accounts, including training, workshops, and tailored herd health programs.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Distributor teams to support business objectives and market share growth.
• Lead technical readiness and customer engagement for new product launches, relaunches, and lifecycle management.
• Monitor disease trends and production challenges; ensure accurate, compliant customer communications.
• Oversee field trials, demonstrations, and local evidence generation to strengthen product positioning.
