Job summary

takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, invites applications for a Retail Buying intern role in Cape Town. The 18-month contract offers exposure to buying processes, stock management, and supplier liaison in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

You will assist with administrative tasks, support the Buyer, review customer communications, and help ensure smooth operations across stock and catalogue activities. An N6/NCV in Business Management or Commerce is required.

Qualifications

• N6/ NCV in Business Management or Commerce.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Organised with the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Willingness to learn new systems and AI-related technologies.
• Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the division in all administrative functions linked to buying / order processing.
• Supporting the Buyer with all buying processes and checks.
• Checking customer reviews, links and newsletters.
• Managing customer queries and escalating as necessary.
• Oversee day-to-day tasks such as managing stock levels, processing customer orders, handling stock classification, and addressing catalogue-related queries.
• Possesses verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to pick up the phone and engage directly with stakeholders.
• Be quick to react, proactive in identifying and resolving issues, and demonstrate a hands-on approach to ensuring smooth operations and effective problem-solving.
• Co-ordinating and liaising with suppliers regarding stock availability and orders.
