Job summary

Hospitality and Outdoor is seeking an experienced Restaurant Area Manager to oversee Cape Town operations and maintain premium guest experiences across outlets.

You will support restaurant managers, monitor performance, and drive profitability while leading teams and ensuring food safety, hygiene and service standards are consistently upheld.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading multiple restaurant outlets and a hands-on leadership style.
• Solid budgeting, forecasting and P&L experience.
• Strong planning, communication and decision‑making abilities.
• Willingness to travel regularly between Cape Town locations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations and performance of multiple upmarket restaurant outlets.
• Conduct regular site visits and provide visible, practical support to restaurant managers.
• Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, beverage service, presentation and guest care.
• Monitor revenue, operating expenses, labour costs, stock usage, wastage and outlet profitability.
• Review management reports and implement corrective action where performance falls below target.
• Assist restaurant managers with budgets, forecasts and operational improvement plans.
• Drive sales, average spend and sustainable profitability across the assigned restaurants.
• Support restaurant managers with recruitment, onboarding, training and team development.
• Coach management teams and promote accountability, collaboration and professional service.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health and safety and company procedures.
• Monitor stock controls, ordering processes, cash-handling procedures and loss-prevention measures.
• Resolve operational, staffing and guest-service concerns professionally and timeously.
• Protect the premium positioning, reputation and service culture of each restaurant.
• Strong multi-site restaurant operations or senior restaurant management experience is essential.
• Previous exposure to upmarket, premium or high-volume restaurant environments is highly beneficial.
• Proven ability to lead restaurant managers and develop high-performing teams.
• Sound commercial understanding, including budgets, cost controls and profit-and-loss performance.
• Excellent planning, communication, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• A hands-on leadership style and the flexibility to work according to operational requirements.
• Willingness to travel regularly between restaurant locations in Cape Town.
