Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Addiction Counsellor for a residential rehabilitation centre in Rustenburg, North West. You will provide evidence-based therapy, support clients through recovery, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic, ethical care in a safe environment.

Minimum 4 years in addiction counselling with knowledge of CBT/MI and strong empathetic skills will be essential in guiding long-term sobriety for clients within the Rustenburg community.

Qualifications

• A recognised qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• Professional accreditation or registration with a relevant counselling body is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience as an Addiction Counsellor, preferably in a residential setting.
• Strong knowledge of addiction models, treatment modalities (e.g., CBT, MI).

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for clients with substance use disorders.
• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each client's needs and goals.
• Educate clients on addiction, its effects, and strategies for maintaining sobriety.
• Facilitate relapse prevention planning and support during recovery phases.
• Monitor client progress, assess risks, and adapt treatment strategies.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
• Maintain confidential client records in line with ethical and legal standards.
• Provide support to clients' families to aid reintegration.
• Organise and lead therapeutic activities and workshops to promote life skills.
• Contribute to development and refinement of treatment protocols.
