Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Addiction Counsellor in Benoni, Gauteng to support individuals on their recovery journey. You will conduct assessments, develop tailored treatment plans, and deliver individual and group therapy with compassion and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or related field.
• Professional accreditation or registration with a relevant counselling body.
• Proven experience as an Addiction Counsellor or in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of addiction theories, treatment modalities and recovery principles.
• Skilled in individual and group therapy techniques including CBT.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose substance abuse issues.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and counselling plans.
• Facilitate individual counselling sessions to address addiction-related challenges.
• Lead and co-facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on recovery.
• Provide psychoeducation to clients and families regarding addiction and recovery processes.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Liaise with other healthcare professionals and social services for holistic care.
• Maintain confidential, up-to-date client records and notes.
• Assist clients in developing relapse prevention strategies and life skills.
• Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality in all practice.
