Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Addiction Recovery Support Officer for a rehabilitation center in Polokwane, Limpopo. The role centers on direct client support, guiding sobriety, and developing coping strategies to reintegrate individuals into society.

The successful candidate will have a qualification in psychology or related fields and at least 3 years’ experience in addiction recovery, with strong empathy and teamwork skills to coordinate care with clinicians and families in Polokwane.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in addiction recovery support.
• Strong understanding of addiction, recovery and relapse prevention.
• Empathy, patience and non-judgmental approach.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and manage crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to clients in recovery.
• Develop and implement personalized recovery support plans.
• Assist clients in identifying triggers and developing healthy coping strategies.
• Facilitate support group meetings and educational sessions.
• Monitor client progress and provide encouragement throughout their recovery journey.
• Liaise with medical professionals, therapists, and family members to coordinate care.
• Assist clients with reintegration planning, including housing, employment, and social support.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation.
• Respond to client crises and provide appropriate intervention.
• Promote a safe, supportive, and relapse-prevention-focused environment.
