Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Research Scientist in analytical chemistry to join its R&D team in Port Elizabeth. You will develop, validate analytical methods and characterize complex samples, working with HPLC, GC, LC-MS and spectroscopy to support product development.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related field and at least five years of method development experience, with strong data analysis skills and knowledge of LIMS.

Qualifications

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical method development and validation.
• Expertise in chromatography (HPLC, GC) and mass spectrometry (LC-MS, GC-MS).
• Proficiency with various spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, IR, AA) and data analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods using techniques such as HPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry, and spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation.
• Interpret analytical data, troubleshoot method or instrument issues, and generate comprehensive reports.
• Collaborate with formulation scientists and other R&D personnel to support project goals.
• Ensure all analytical activities comply with relevant quality standards and regulatory guidelines.
