Placements24 seeks a Research Biologist with molecular genetics expertise to join the R&D team in Vereeniging. You will investigate genetic bases of biological processes using modern molecular techniques, contributing to novel projects and advancing gene function understanding.

The role requires a PhD and hands-on experience in molecular biology, with opportunities to work with state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation in a collaborative lab environment, driving innovative scientific discovery.

Qualifications

• PhD required in molecular biology or a closely related field.
• Minimum 3 years post‑doctoral or relevant industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR and gene cloning.
• Apply CRISPR/Cas9 for gene editing experiments.
• Analyze sequencing data (WGS, RNA-Seq) with bioinformatics tools.
• Design experiments to study gene expression and protein interactions.
• Maintain accurate lab records and document procedures.
• Collaborate across projects and present findings.
