Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Biologist with a genomics focus to lead advanced genetic and genomic projects at their Welkom facility. You will design experiments, interpret complex data, and contribute to diagnostic tools and therapeutic targets.

The role emphasizes collaboration with bioinformatics and clinical teams, high-impact publications, and cutting-edge technology access in a state-of-the-art environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on genomics and molecular biology research.
• Proven expertise with DNA sequencing technologies and bioinformatics pipelines.
• Strong statistics skills for genomic data interpretation.
• Experience with relevant software and genomic databases.
• Excellent analytical and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute advanced genomic research projects including NGS library prep and data analysis.
• Perform molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and gene expression analysis.
• Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic datasets using bioinformatics tools and statistics.
• Develop and validate new genomic assays and protocols for research and diagnostic applications.
• Collaborate with bioinformatics specialists, clinicians, and other researchers.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication and present findings at conferences.
