Placements24 is seeking a talented Research Scientist with expertise in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to join its R&D team in Soweto. The role focuses on investigating biological pathways, developing new assays, and characterizing biomolecules, with opportunities to design experiments and contribute to product development.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD and has 3–5 years of post-PhD experience, strong practical skills in protein biochemistry and molecular biology, and excellent data

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology.
• 3–5 years post-PhD research experience.
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute and optimize biochemistry and molecular biology experiments.
• Develop and validate new assays for target screening and biomolecule characterization.
• Perform molecular cloning, PCR, Western blotting, ELISA and related techniques.
• Analyze data with appropriate statistical methods and software; draw clear conclusions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support research and product development.
• Maintain thorough lab notebooks and contribute to reports and publications.
